Mary A. Tidlund is the founder and president of The Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation. In 1989, she co-founded Williston Wildcatters Oil Corp., a junior oil and gas exploration company, and one of the first companies in Canada to conduct horizontal drilling. In five years, Wildcatters grew from a private to public company traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It was once valued at $35 million before running into trouble and going bankrupt. Located in Saskatchewan her activities expanded to include drilling and trucking companies, clothing store, art gallery, and restaurant based in Arcola. On October 14, 1998 she founded the Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation which financially supports and participates in medical, dental and educational programs in Canada and overseas. In 1993, where she was a finalist in the Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards and in October of 2000 she received the Black Achievement Award for Humanitarianism in Alberta.
