Big It Up began as a unisex skincare line developed in 1996. Royes, then a business administration student at Humber College in Toronto, sold his car to fund the endeavor. He opened the first Big It Up kiosk in the college's bookstore and started selling T-shirts to promote its skincare products. After noticing that the t-shirts he had printed as a promotional item were moving faster than the skincare products themselves Royes began manufacturing hats as well as t-shirts. Today Big It Up is distributed in over 50 locations across North America and has 18 employees.
