Christopher J. Williams is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Williams Capital Group, L.P. the largest black-owned investment bank in the U.S and Williams Capital Management, LLC., an investment management firm.
Williams Capital has ranked among the top 20 underwriters of U.S. investment grade corporate debt each year since 2000. In 2003, the Firm served as lead or co-manager on 88 public debt and equity offerings with a total face amount of over $85 billion.
In 2002, Mr. Williams was selected by Fortune magazine as one of the 50 most powerful Blacks in corporate America. In that same year, Williams Capital was ranked as the largest minority owned investment bank in Black Enterprises June 2002 issue and once again in the June 2004 issue.
His career includes nine years of experience with Lehman Brothers in New York where he was senior vice president responsible for the origination and trading of structured fixed income securities. In addition to extensive experience in fixed income securities, Williams has worked extensively in the areas of private placements and corporate finance. Following his career at Lehman Brothers, he formed Williams Financial Markets which was a division of Jefferies & Company, Inc. that specialized in structured debt financings for corporate borrowers.
In addition, Mr. Williams has served as a director of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., from 2003 and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., from 2004.
Mr. Williams holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University.
