Angelique C. Mamby Pannell was named General Counsel of The Children’s Aid Society in April 2008. As General Counsel, Pannell provides legal advice and representation, and supervises outside counsel, on a variety of matters. These matters include not-for-profit governance and law, employee benefits, real estate transactions, intellectual property, labor relations, general litigation and contractual matters.

Pannell brings more than 12 years of legal experience to Children’s Aid. She previously was a corporate partner in the New York City office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, an international law firm. Prior to being named a partner in 2004, Pannell was a corporate associate resident in Fried, Frank’s New York office with a rotation in its London office from July 1999 through December 2000. While at Fried, Frank, Pannell represented public and private companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, corporate governance and general corporate counseling. She also worked on a variety of pro bono projects.

Pannell received her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1996. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and politics from New York University in 1993. She is admitted to practice in New York. Pannell currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York. Pannell is also active in the Association of Black Women Attorneys and has served on its Board of Directors. Pannell was honored to receive an award from the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity in connection with being the first person from its corporate law internship program to be named a partner in a prominent New York law firm.
