John O. Utendahl is Vice Chairman of Deutsche Bank Americas Holding Corp. In his role, Utendahl focuses primarily on cultivating and enhancing major strategic client relationships for the firm.

Mr. Utendahl has nearly 30 years of experience on Wall Street, and for the past 18 years he has been Chairman of the Utendahl organization, beginning in 1992 when he founded Utendahl Capital Partners, L.P. (UCP). UCP became the foundation for the Utendahl organization’s five financial affiliates, which provided corporate clients with the first comprehensive suite of investment banking and investment services offered by a minority-operated business.

In the private sector alone, nearly half of all Fortune 200 companies enjoy a relationship as an institutional investor with at least one of the Utendahl Organization’s entities.  Twenty-five percent of those companies have invested in two or more Utendahl affiliates.

Through John’s leadership, product diversification and an extensive and successful track record, the Utendahl Organization has differentiated itself from its peers as the leading institution of its kind in corporate America. 

The organization’s four entities include:

Utendahl Capital Partners (“UCP”), a broker dealer/investment bank

Utendahl Capital Management (“UCM”), a fixed income asset management firm

UrbanAmerica (“UA”), a commercial real estate fund

United Enterprise Fund (“UEF”), a private equity fund

John is also a founding member of Praesidian Capital, LLC, which is the General Partner of Praesidian Capital Investors LP, a mezzanine fund.

John’s career began at Salomon Brothers, after which he was a trading desk manager at Merrill Lynch’s corporate bond department. 

John is currently on the Board of Directors of Family Promise. He has also served as a director on several boards for organizations that were of particular importance to him, both professionally and personally. These board memberships have included the Securities Industry Association (SIA), the US Fund for UNICEF, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He holds FINRA series 7 and 24 registrations.

Mr. Utendahl earned an MBA in Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business from Long Island University.
