Beverly Mascoll, was a black Canadian entrepreneur, who was born and raised in the province of Nova Scotia.
In 1970, she took $700 and incorporated her own company selling black hair-care products. An unknown in the industry, Mascoll convinced a major U.S. manufacturer to be their first Canadian distributor. She started selling products from the trunk of her car.
Mascoll Beauty Supply is now one of the biggest in the Canadian black beauty supply industry. The company now consist of a chain of retail outlets, as well as the manufacturing and distribution of black beauty products across the country.
She was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada for outstanding entrepreneurship and assisting Canada's youth in 1998.
