Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong is the founder and Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies.
He is one of Ghana’s richest citizens. His Jospong Group of Companies, founded 1995 as a printing company. It now employs more than 250,000. The company has business interest in several sectors of the economy with its biggest operations in Waste management, ICT and Banking as well as Automobile and Equipment.
“I started an electrical engineering course and in 1990 I completed the course and my father said he no longer had the money to contribute to my education so I had to go into business. He suggested I should go and assist my mother who had a little shop where she was squatting in front of somebody’s business. I started helping her like a petty trader selling exercise books on the streets,” he told Forbes Africa.
Mr. Agyepong started his first company, Jospong Printing Press, in 1995.
He began his most successful company, Zoomlion, with a US $6,500.00 load. Zoomlion currently has operations in Togo, Angola, Zambia and Equatorial Guinea and Liberia.
Since the starting Zoomlion, Mr. Agyepong has created two to three companies every year. The company now has operations covering diverse sectors with over 40 companies.
