Melanie Harris serves as VP, Strategy & Development for NIKE, Inc. She leads the development of enterprise-level strategic planning with a focus on driving innovation, transformation and growth. She also leads the coordination of strategy development for specific opportunities within Nike’s business portfolio.
- Prior to Nike, Ms. Harris was a Partner at Bain & Company, where she advised multinational companies on customer experience, digital marketing, transformation, agile ways of working and performance improvement.
- Independent Retail & Wholesale Consultant, advised leading multinational companies on a range of issues including digital marketing, customer experience, and performance improvement. Leader in Bain’s Social Impact and internal Diversity & Inclusion efforts. Spent one year based in Johannesburg.
- She was Associate Product Manager, Macy's. Managed production and developed assortment, pricing and markdown strategy for 500+ SKU, $30M men's sportswear private brand. Collaborated with designers and buyers to plan lines with eye for innovation and saleability. Approved color, fabric and construction on all sample runs including prototype, sales, fit and top of production. Negotiated price, product quality and delivery with vendors in India, Hong Kong, China, and Dominican Republic. Analyzed brand and competitor in-store performance and recommended appropriate markdowns or re-orders.
- Ms. Harris was an Associate Financial Analyst, Abercrombie & Fitch. Projected weekly and monthly sales expectations for Hollister Co and Abercrombie stores. Prepared and presented budget and management reports to COO and CFO. Supported Controller in forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting activities for 500+ stores nationwide.
Board and Advisor Roles
Ms. Harris served as Board Chair for 2 years at AIM Charter Schools, New Visions for Public Schools. Which is dedicated to ensuring that all New York City public school students, regardless of race or economic class, have access to a quality education and can graduate prepared for college.
She served as an internal leader in Bain’s Social Impact and Diversity & Inclusion efforts and was a senior executive sponsor for Bain’s Black Affinity Group.
Melanie received her MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University, where she was an accomplished track and field athlete.
