Sean N. Woodroffe, is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of TIAA-CREF, since March 2018.
He is responsible for TIAA’s human resources strategy and execution for the company’s global workforce, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, organizational design and effectiveness, and inclusion and diversity. He also oversees the company's internal communications strategy.
Mr. Woodroffe has over 25 years of executive Human Resources experience in Financial Services (Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, Asset Management and Insurance). Broad multinational experience beyond North America; in Asia, Europe and Africa.

- Born in Trinidad, Mr. Woodroffe immigrated to the U.S. as a child.

- He has worked in Tokyo, London and Lagos, Nigeria.
Work Experience
Previously, Mr. Woodroffe held the Chief People Officer position at National Life Group.
Prior to that, he served as the regional Head of HR at Sun Life Financial U.S., and also held executive HR roles at Financial Guaranty Insurance Company, and the United Bank for Africa.
Mr. Woodroffe started his career and spent over 18 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he last served as First Vice President and Head of International HR based in London. He also led HR for Merrill Lynch’s Japan Wealth Management business unit based in Tokyo.

Mr. Woodroffe serves on the Board of the Chapin School in Princeton, NJ, and the Board of Shaw University.
