John W. Rogers, Jr.

John W. Rogers, Jr. is Founder and CEO of Ariel Capital which he started with $200,000 when he was 24 years old. The firm now has assets under management of approximately $17.5 billion and is the largest black-owned fund management company in America. Rogers is the firm's Chief Investment Officer and manages Ariel's small and mid-cap institutional portfolios as well as Ariel Fund and Ariel Appreciation Fund. Prior to founding Ariel, John worked for 2 years at the investment banking firm of William Blair & Co. in Chicago. John serves on the Board of Directors of Aon Corporation; Exelon Corporation and McDonald's Corporation. His civic affiliations include his roles as Chairman of the Chicago Urban League; Director of The University of Chicago; and Board Member of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
