Oprah Winfrey, 54, is the 155th richest person in the U.S., and the richest African American according to Forbes magazine's annual ranking of the 400 richest Americans. Oprah is also the only African American to make the list this year. The price of admission to this, the 27th edition of The Forbes 400, is $1.3 billion for the second year in a row. Ratings for the top-rated Oprah Winfrey Show slipped 7% so far in 2008; circulation of O Magazine is down. Who cares? She's still $200 million richer this year.
Her company Harpo produces Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray; adding show hosted by frequent guest Dr. Oz next year. Starting the Oprah Winfrey Network next fall with Discovery.
