Mr.Sutton is the founder, controlling shareholder, and Chairman Emeritus of Inner City Broadcasting Corporation with radio stations around the United States and principal office in New York City. Mr. Sutton is a lawyer, businessman, college lecturer and political and civilrights activist. He served three terms as President of the Borough ofManhattan. After retiring from politics, Mr. Sutton developed the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation which he founded in 1971 and launched by purchasing the Harlem based WLIB-AM and its sister station WBLS-FM in 1974. ICBC is the second largest black owned radio broadcasting company in the United States (Radio One Inc. is the largest). In 1981 Mr. Sutton and Inner City bought the world famous Harlem based Apollo Theatre, which they rescued from Bankruptcy Court. They then refurbished it and deeded it over to the Apollo Theatre Foundation in 1991 a not-for-profit foundation.
