Carlton Byrd is the Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer for RLJ Select Investments, a hedge fund of funds formed in joint venture with Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM), a division of Deutsche Bank.
Before joining The RLJ Companies, Mr. Byrd was most recently Senior Vice President at Friedman Billings Ramsey (FBR) and was responsible for the institutional business development of FBR’s single strategy hedge fund and fund of fund products.
Formerly, Mr. Byrd was a Managing Director at Cameron Capital Management, LLC, a convertible arbitrage hedge fund, where he coordinated and directed all marketing, client service and reporting activities.
Mr. Byrd also served as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs where he spent over eight years as a sales trader for institutional and hedge fund managers on Goldman’s NASDAQ trading desk, and as a domestic sales trader to Goldman’s global Private Wealth Management sales force and client base.
Mr. Byrd was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy through the University of Pennsylvania’s NROTC program. He began his Navy career as a communications and engineering officer aboard the USS EL PASO (LKA-117) and, in October 1990, deployed to Operation Desert Storm where he served as a Lieutenant.
