The series which will be taped at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and hosted by Doug E. Fresh, will showcase young urban comedians. Combs will make at least one appearance in each episode.
The series premiering June 10 will air at 11 p.m. EDT as a lead-in to the "Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry."
"I'm excited to be working with HBO on 'The Bad Boys of Comedy,'" says Combs. "These are some of the funniest, most revolutionary, untapped talents to come on the scene since the days of Richard Pryor - you're gonna laugh 'til it hurts."
Scheduled performers for the first episode are Howie Bell, Rayzor, Malik and Marcus Combs. Ronnie Jordan, Mike Brooks, Big Jay and Will-E-Robo will appear the following week and Darius Bradford, Damon Williams, Tone X and Bobo Lamb will appear in the final week of June.
The series will be executive-produced by Combs and Walter Latham. Mr. Combs has been rapidly expanding his investment in tv and film production recently sign a development deal with MTV Films.
